What the countries of Europe will do unless they become dry, I don't know. This drink curse is at least 4500 years old and is the greatest cause of poverty crime degradation and shame, yet for about 3000 years men of culture and learning have been opposing it, but only in a few countries have they met any encouragement at all. English countryside is very nice and to a stranger quaint, with its hedges, streamlets, and woods. Then one comes on a quaint, but very fine building with its turrets, and memories of the olden time; nestled away in a little valley are these old old buildings, and the bang of the drum, and the blare of the band echo back from the woods and hills. Here along these old roads perhaps tramped those old old roads Romans perhaps even the woods echoed to their drum.
