the old lady to bring us breakfast. I laughed because of course the old lady she doesn't undertand a word of English.

Our billet is in a glorious position right on a hill overlooking a beautiful valley. It is difficult to even remember when looking across it that a dreadful war exists, the scenes associated with war are easily forgotten. They do not seem to have depth or reality, nor do they stir the soul like these quiet scenes of nature. I would rather look over a quiet valley than cross a thousand battle fields.

Padre Jones is my room mate. He isn't a bad sort of chap but he bores me to death. He's simply awful. There isn't a bit of humour in him, his french is terriffically bad.
