almost at the place where you want to go. After being at such a place I was directed to go 5 streets away in the opposite direction & when things seemed wrong I asked a bobby & he told me to go back to the original starting point - I opened out in good Australian on the fool who had directed me. The outburst staggered & then amused the bobby who hoped that I would not encounter the individual as he forecast visions of a fight. We dropped in to the Regent for another cup of coffee really to put in time as it was too late to go anywhere & too early for dinner: Here my friend met two girl friends who took me as far as my Club & then to cafe au petit riche where I had an appointment. Without them I should have been lost as I find my way in daytime by look of building & at night all is changed. London is a city of darkness. All lights are out & the street lights are shaded or blue. The main illumination is the small headlights of the motor omnibus. At cafe my friend did not turn up & the dinner was Bohemian. The French waitresses remembered me. An English officer came in & sat down & afterwards joined me. Two ladies at the table near by joined in conversation but there was no forwardness such as one would expect in an English cafe if same thing took place. The atmosphere was different. Rain came & I went back to automobile club for an overcoat where I met Miss Dolly Lox of 12 Albert Mansions Baker St. As rain is heavy do not go to theatre.

After Breakfast which I had in bed I set out for Mde Tussauds (see catalogue). This is inferior. The faces are in some cases not true to life (eg Cromwell) though the costumes are. The Chamber of horrors has nothing horrible in it save criminal relics & murderers who after all are men like
