Sailing day. Got off earlier than expected about 6pm We proceed out in a long line Morea leading. It is a pretty sight. The scenery is picturesque long line of low shores fringed with lakes & behind the cloud piercing summits of rugged hills. The wreck looks like a vessel putting into port. Outside we form too deep and afterward the calculations are incomprehensible now one formation then another sometime in square & sometimes under One fact I notice is that we are always in the centre.  It is comforting to know we are in a safe position I spoke a lot this afternoon with Saintou & make him my orderly. Price supervising him. This afternoon evening before dinner I speak with Belgian officer Lt Barbier in French so far I have avoided doing so but he has asked me to do so. I ask him to have aperitif but he  I must watch the arrivals & so have not time. After dinner usual routine
