Still down with flu. Wander round camp in morning & in afternoon was awakened to check equipment. at night too ill to sleep. Molesworth refusing to take breakfast parade for me. Took Dover powder to treat cold.
28-8-18 Wed
Owing to fact that breakfast parade brought me out of bed at 6.15 influenza increased rather than decreased. Worked checking equipment all the morning. Retired early & nursed influenza as leave commences to morrow
29-8-18 Thurs
Spent morning preparing, collecting cash railway passes & meal-tickets Here if one wishes meals he must give a coupon before he can obtain it or even purchase it. There are in the books coupon is enable person to buy 1 weeks ration of lard, tea, sugar. However I am not drinking tea & sugar I take golden syrup with porridge. Bacon & eggsdo not come under the heading of meat or other meats (other meats includes fry.). By permission of Capt Lindly who knew me at Casula, obtained leave to get away by the midday train altho my leave did not commence till midnight. Molesworth is coming with me & we have to curtail our dinner. I pack some unnecessary things (boots, pyjamas) which I would not take if on my own in Molesworths bag & to keep
