The performance was nothing to speak of I have seen our own men as steady when occasion demanded. In front of the palace outside the Gates is the enormous unfinished statue erected as a memorial to Queen Victoria. I then set out for Horseferry Rd the Australian Headquarters a quaint red building with a large courtyard of grass & then bigger building beyond altogether rather a large place in spite of its small facade. Having drawn all pay available I go down to Commonwealth Bank to visit it & adjust my accounts which have been muddled up. The current a/c has been transferred fro Aust & put into a savings bank account in this Strand Branch while the savings Bank a/c has been transferred with a note that it was not to be operated on. However I saw the manager Mr Finnly & all was straightened out. Time is now near one o'clock. I thought of Jack Kennedy & decided to go upstairs & look him up. Sure enough I find him & is quite surprised as I put my head round & greet him with "Hello Jack". He shows me through this enormous 7 storey building constructed from Aust. marble & prisoners. From the roof I have a good birds eye view of London with St Pauls dome one end & Westminster the other & below us in a little island in the street is St Clemens Church of which one has heard before in the old song Oranges & Lemons the Bells of St Clemens. The same old bells are there now. We go down stairs & see the library a magnificent chamber with pillars of marble brought from Australia as is also everything in this room save a big carpet which weighs about 1½ tons & cost over £1,000 & was made in Donnegal. We go out for dinner Jack as my guide & I as the leading spirit. I decide to go to Pinolli 17/00 Wardour St. (Regent 1664 phone) off Coventry St Lunch 1/6 (noon till 4 pm). Hors d'oevres, soup, fish, meat or Poultry, Vegetables , Sweets & Cheese. Dinner is 2/- & consists of 8 courses with salads, cheese, & sweets as courses. After Luncheon we walked throughout Soho & saw all the places once dreaded by law abiding citizens. Now all is
