is a magnificent old home now used as an officers club. The walks around here are glorious. The old trees meet & there is a green grass underneath to which the sun rarely reaches. The spots are ideal & the walks magnificent. At one time we reached a plantation & there were avenues cut into it - leafy walks which never lose their beauty. Here it rains several times a day & then sun comes out between showers. with such weather conditions trees & grass could not but help to grow. Even the trees having green moss right up their branches & those that have not are shrouded with small leaves & twigs. The effect is same as you see in the old pictures. It is indeed worth coming 13,000 miles to see the softened beauty in this country which is never harsh, never aweinspiring but is inspired spiritual loveliness.

14-9-18 Saturday
Too wet to go out stayed in & answered questions in class, slept & took hot plunge in afternoon.

15-9-18 Sun
Compulsory church parade 9.30 & all marched to C of E church a new building with square columns & round arches giving a flat suggestion to the archiltecture. Aeroplanes pass here all day & night sometimes singly sometimes pair but generally in flights of 7, 8 or 9. They perform all sorts of wonderful manoeuvres - winding around on side - falling headlong from skies without engines & then regaining control looping the loop among others. By night they fly with electric lights on their planes. It is truly wonderful what they can do. ut they are so common  & frequent that it is rarely we take any notice of them. After dinner to night we went over to Tedworth House & which is now an officer club. The
