out to me. They have evidently decided that I am to be treated as an outsider & certainly they manage it tip top, I am sure they are to be congratulated.
Have not been out of my clothes for two nights & there is every chance that a similar proceeding come tonight.
Got to go back to the blasted donks. Its jolly hard to see the other chaps going up the lines & not to go up myself.
The inhabitants of this village were evacuated today, it is a sad sight. Some of the most fortunate have horses, donkeys & carts to take away their most valued possessions, the poorer have only wheel barrows & baskets, it brings tears to ones eyes. The women were continually asking if there was any danger, ought they go to save the children etc. One hardly knows what to advise. Their carts etc. block the roads & are a great hindrance to traffic of military character. One old man was pushing his wife in a wheel barrow.
