Lay in one direction & are commanded by the Gunns of their citadel calld St Sebastian which is situate on the top of a hill over looking the town

it is supplyd with water by an aqueduct which brings it from the neighbouring hills upon two stories of arches said in some places to be very high the water that this brings is conveyd into a fountain in the great square immediately opposite the Governors palace which is guarded by a sentry who has sufficient work to keep regularity & order among so many as are always in waiting at this place there is also water laid into some other part of the town but how it is brought there I could not hear only that it was better than the fountain which is exceedingly indifferent so much so as not to be likd
