I forgot to mention yesterday that two birds were caught in the rigging, who probably had come from Spain, as we were not then distant above 5 or 6 Leagues, this morning another was caught, & brought to me, but so weak that it dyed in my hand almost immediately; they were all three of the same species, & not describd by Linnaeus we calld them Motacilla velificans, as they must be sailors who would venture themselves aboard a ship which is going round the world. but to make some balance to our good fortune now become too prevalent, a misfortune happned this morn, equaling almost the worst which our enemies could have wishd, the morn was calm & Richmond employd in searching for what should appear on the surface of the water, a shoal of dagysa's were observd & he Eagar to take some of
