News comes that result of a [indecipherable] last night was successful. We captured one tank gun, about 8 or 10 machine guns, 4 trench mortars and 250 prisoners. Our casualties where slight; perhaps 3 officers and fifty men. We caught the enemy changing over. Our artillery barrage was very good
The artillery work generally was splendid causing much loss to the enemy in their forward and back areas.
Prisoners taken speak confidently of victory for German army.
This is the proper spirit for soldiers to [indecipherable] with, but they will be sadly disappointed. It is we who are going to win.
Today Fritz plane came behind screen of a cloud and shot from edge of it at one of our observation balloons bringing it down in flames.
The evening of that day when he brought down three, he got another one
Great events are in progress in the south office enemy threatens Paris, but they are held by our combined troops. The French will establish a wall of defence [defense] all will go well we shall win.
