the land; and a bee worries a single daisy that nestles near a sheltering stone, while a snail slowly traverses a broken tile and leaves a silver trail, all in their silent ways living their little weary lives in the great wound that war has made.

If you are of an inquisitive mind and have the time you might find in some of the old trenches entrances to dug outs, and by exploring you might see where the Germans has made themselves safe and secure many feet below the surface.
