little or no provision made to provide reading matter. There is a Church Army Tent in which are a few papers & writing materials. No leave is granted to any inmates & no pay given. It is the hardest thing in the world to get any item of clothing issued. The officers in charge do not seem to bear any love towards the Australians. I think we have too much of the independant spirit for most of them. They do not get that servile deference which many of the British Tommies have towards them.
