appear too inviting. It is all on that fine dusty ground. We were issued with blankets, Towel etc. and assigned to different tents. I fell among the Phillistines. In my tent there was 11 British Tommies, I was the only innocent Australian. It was late after we had a little tea & I went to bed which was a mattress on a canvas covering on the ground. It was fairly comfortable and I lay half awake for some hours while the Tommies argued on military & other questions. I enjoyed listening to the drawl of the different shires - not two seemed to talk the same - I must say two of the number were brawly Irish sons.
