fire by the naval guns & it burnt for several days. I am having all the dips in the briny I can - one can hardly imagine that we could do this a few hundred yards from the firing line
Tuesday 4th
Our orders were to move back to our gun pits in the afternoon & I took the opportunity of having a good swim & getting water. We had about 1½ miles to walk to get the water sent ashore from the ships. Soakage water from the ridges could be obtained in several places near the beach.
At 4 pm we were called up to our gun pits again & were soon into harness observing the enemy. An attack was made on Kaba Tepe by the Naval Marines
