I did not sleep well last night. There is an old lady in charge of our ward - she is splendid but is always wanting to tuck you in. She is wonderfully nimble although she looks 70 years old. During the night we were woken to know if we required [indecipherable] etc. They had us all awake about 4 am to wash us. I feel pretty well except for the stiffness of my leg. This hospital is immaculately clean & all the lady nurses apparently honorary are fluttering all around us all day & sheets are pressed down, creased out every half hour. The girls & women folk seem
