known as our mad captn was wounded badly also several others. The enemy seemed to be firing on us from Kaba Tepe & I spotted several running into a dug out & we promptly put several shells there. We put in the night digging our gun pit deeper etc. to get more protection from the enemy's fire.
Friday 7th
We had it quiet till after dinner when the enemy's artillery gave us a warm time. Shells all around us some a few yds in front & at either side but no further damage. Down on the beach a number of horses were felled also Corp Crowther while sleeping in his dug out. Capt Leslie passed away. One feature of this war is the Hand Grenades used. One thought that this weapon was obsolete. The Turks
