After breakfast I went down to the beach - had another swim. Here I might say a tremendous amount of our causalities occurred through snipers hidden in the ridges near us & the beach. Several have been sighted & dealt with also German & Turkish spies. A number of prisoners have been captured & I saw several working for us under a guard.
Monday 3rd May
Still shelling on our ridge & on dug outs. Every day at dawn & sunset we get a fusilade of shrapnel & bullets over & around us. It is marvellous some are not wounded. While up on the gun last week the village of Maidos was set on
