My Dear Jessie Jean

I'm enclosing you  our newspaper.   Its a fine sheet  isn't it?    We never see any other papers except when the mails bring our Australian or English papers out.   I've seen none of my articles since leaving Gallopili except the one on Home   anzacs in England, so I'm hoping that the next mail will bring me some clippings.   The Camel train  has such  a lot of work to do that papers rarely come out here & the letters only come now and then.   So give  me all the  news in your letters.   I've not heard about the reception of "Love Letters" yet. Tho' Ive heard incidentally that it sold out. Now I'm  wanting to hear about Bluegum....

The losses in our recent battle were 12 officers & 80 men killed and 400 wounded.   These were Australians only.   I've not heard the British losses.   They were not very heavy.   The Turks lost 2,000 killed & wounded & 4,000 prisoners.   I'm fit as a fiddle. The intense heat of summer is easing up & we get a nice breeze every day.   The nights are perfect. Give my love to Lodja  & Viv  & [Lind?]  & Vera & Jean B & Jean K & all the Brothers and Sisters & the kiddies;  Dad & Mither. Tons of love                Ol
