Wednesday, 16  Jan 1918

Raining all morning but cleared up in the afternoon. All the roads were knee deep in water for miles. I went up to Ooterstene [also spelt Outtersteene or Oultersteene] to get some roofing for the stables. But could not get it till tomorrow. Gen Birdwood & the staff came round in afternoon & had a yarn to the boys. Capt Prickett - the C of E Chaplain, joined us & is attached to us.
