Monday, 24  June 1918

Fine in morning, but had a few showers in evening. I was about the battery all day. The Major & Laing went up to the OP in afternoon & shot on our S.O.S.   Fritz was fairly quiet till evening when he put a lot of harressing fire round the battery. His aircraft were very active all day, & he forced one of our observation planes to land behind the battery in the morning. Great news in the paper about the Austrians   being in full retreat & the Italians after them as hard as they can go. We may get home in a couple of years yet.
