[November 1]

Wrote to Mrs Mount, F. Symcox, 26 home.

Mess orderly this morning.  Route march from 9.30 AM till 11 AM.  A lovely morning for marching.  After dinner buzzer practice, about 3.30 PM I got word to leave here right away for Villers Station.  I set off & marched to Lisbourg & then through Heuchin, about 9 PM I knocked at a Frenchmans door & slept among some straw in the barn they gave me two extra blankets.  They are very kind, in fact they saw me into bed.
