[April 11]

At midnight we were awoke to get our equipment on & make for the firing line, about 2 miles or a little more away.  We saw the tanks on there way up.  We must have reached the front line about 1.30 AM & we prepared to the minutest detail, my two mates & myself volunteered to take the H.P. buzzer over with an officer.  Just about 4 AM the tanks went over, & we hopped over, at 4.30.  I got wounded about 4.40 about 350 yds from our trench.  I got back about 12 midday & laid in the trench till about 5 PM, before I got taken away on the stretcher.  It is snowing & very cold.
