[July 29]

We had no parade before breakfast, after breakfast we cleaned up & fell in to be inspected by a Major, they kept us standing over 1½ hours to be inspected & he only galloped past on horse back, its a shame for us to waste our precious lives in such a fashion.  We went in to Rudgershall [possibly Ludgershall] after dinner but it was raining so we did not see much, it is an old fashioned place, not to be recommended for a holiday or anything, its a village of ill repute, home to camp about 6 PM.
