[February 2]
I hear a German put his hands up & said camarade & when he got near he threw a bomb & got 2 of our fellows. He got away after.
I am on the Phone at 4 AM this morning & I can hear Fritz shells exploding in our line the 15 took last night. I can hear machine gun & rifle fire, also some thing like bombs, the DIV has sent for Capt Murray & our Col, so there is something wrong. Went back to Bde canteen & learned that Fritz had won back his trench at 4 AM this morning taking about 70 of the 15th prisoners.

We put a light barage over to Fritz at 11 PM & he is sending lights up in galore - also shelling.
I hear the 13 are going to try to take the position the 15th lost. We packed up & moved into the supports in Bull trench. A. & B. Coy are in the line.
