October 9th 1915
On a splendid day about 6000 of us troops paraded the streets of Wellington to embark for the seat of war. We received an enthusiastic reception the streets & wharfs being packed so densley that it was with difficulty we got through at all. We embarked & pulled out from the wharf at 5 pm & anchored in the harbour for the night.

Manganui flagship and Warrimo very near out of sight on the horizon Navua about a mile behind. Mess arrangements a bit muddled all day but straightened out by tea time Food very good.
