Tuesday 28th
On Batt police duty a good job laid in tent all day
Wednesday 29th
Went off to Ferry post again for new rifles and got them this time. A roasting hot day the lake was packed all round it was good in the water
Thursday 30th
A practice route march through Ismailia with the band the Col wants out Batt to be the best of the Brig at marching. Had ½ hours lecture in the park on how to conduct ourselfs in billets
Friday 31st
Platoon drill also practice with gas helmets they are a double thickness of flannel steeped in some acids they go right down under the coat collar there are two gogles & a rubber valve which you hold in mouth to breath out, you cant breath through it, the air beneath filters in & purifies coming through the flannel
