practicely for tourists it is conected with Cairo by tram & electric trains fitted up in great style 1st & 2nd class it only takes 10 min to Cairo there are some splendid first class hotels here one especially the Palace Hotel containing 500 rooms it was built for a Casino but they couldn't get a license so it proved a bit of a white elephant it is now a Aus. Gen. Hos. & suits for that purpose well there are alltogether about 6 Hos. & Convel. Homes here there seems to be a good many Belgium & French people here The buildings are mostly of a sort of limestone & look very well
Sunday 28th
Still crook big massed church parade on the desert. In the afternoon we took a guide out to the Pyramids & Sphinx it is a marvllous bit of work the old Egyptian must have been a lot more resourcefull than the present one the Pyramids are 400ft high & are built of enormous blocks of stone it is the matter for a lot of thought how they got the stones up inside is all vaults were they used to bury the dead you
