Monday 8th

Wet miserable day. Competitions in the afternoon drisling rain & cold our platoon came 1st in physical drill & 2nd in rifle exercises so we didn't do so bad considering the other companys & a platoon in for each event

Tuesday 9th

Moved another 2 miles nearer the firing line we are only 4 or 5 miles away & can see shells exploding especially when they are firing at aeroplanes we will be moving right into the line any day now.

Wednesday 10th

Had a very easy day most of us had blistered feet from marching on the metal. There is a lot of fair sized villages here it is a very pretty part all the streets are laid out in the old style winding all over the place one street in particular it starts fairly wide & runs right off to a point. We are just in Belgium the Germans held all this country at one time. The sky is thick with aeroplanes and observation baloons & shells bursting all round but we didnt see any brought down
