Friday Jan 7th 1916
Muster parade this afternoon & orders to pack everybody in good spirits Very rough night
Saturday 8th
Revellie 4am breakfast 6.30 parade 8am with full 8th moved into the huts as we moved out. Moved of to Helmeil siding at 11am & entrained in open trucks for Ismailia that is some where on the canal we arrived there about dusk marched about a mile through sand tea & biscuits we had to sleep out as they have no tents here yet.
Sunday 9th
Church parade & reorganizing the company is split up between the Well. Batt. I am in Taranaki Coy. we have a crook officer I think discipline will be stricter than in our old company
Monday 10th
They started us all on recruit drill this morning. This officer we have is going to give us a very rough span
