[February 4]

It was a good position they took to night.

On duty from 1 till 6 AM, every thing is fairly quiet, except a wizz bang going over here, I can hear gun in the distance.  We left hear after tea to the front line, shortly after our fellows came up to get ready to go over.  The barage opened at 10 PM & our fellows hopped over, it was a 2 minute barage & about 3 minutes after 10 PM our fellows had some prisoners back.  I am in the supports & Fritz is shelling it very heavy, the 14th Bn (one Coy) are here.  They took the trenches & are holding on, prisoners & our wounded are coming in.
