[January 30]

Wrote 5 letter home & Aunt Liz.

On duty from 4 AM till 8 & from 6 PM till 8 PM.  It was a very quiet morning except our guns & Fritz's taking fits & starts.  I went to Flers, or what was Flers because it is all in ruins, horse here & carts there & munitions of all description all over & a tank with some shells for its 3 lb guns which it carries, got back with wood & got a good wash.  It is very quiet this evening nearly all our fellows are out on fatigue.  Not many of our fellows have had trench or frost biten feet this time yet.
