[January 8]

Wrote 2 letters home.

We were glad when we awoke that we were not in the trenches, because it has been raining hard, & wind blowing.  We had nothing to do today but keep ourselves warm.  A & B Coy moved out to Quarry Siden today & the other two are still at Melbourne camp.  It is we[t] here but the camp is all duck boarded & you can keep pretty dry.  It is rumoured there is going to be a raid & me & Byrnes have agreed to go on it again, it is not official yet but pretty sure, very sorry we did not get conscription in Australia, because we must do our part to (win).
