2/      a splendid reputation.   He's a fine chap & I'm quite taken with him. We had a special inspection of the brigade today in all their war paint. Herald was proud as punch as he pranced around the lines. All the boys know him. The Vet says he's the finest looking horse in the brigade.

Mabel Bell is in England.   Married.   Mrs Sandford she is now.   Alas I'm broken hearted. All my girls turn me down in the long run.

I think I' ll ask ???   ???   to marry me when I get to London again.
