5/      The visit was a rush one. I was entertained at dinner by Miss Eva Smith-Dampier, grand-daughter (or something) of the navigator. She wrote "Oil of Spikenard" and other books and is very interesting. We went together to the famous old "Charterhouse School" where Thackeray wrote "The Newcombes".

By this time, I guess you will have received "Love Letters".   I hope you like it.

Mr Melrose says that "Bluegum" is a miles better book.   He's right.
