the Mother of Parliament as "Member for Anzac".

I was terribly distressed to hear of the the latest bad turns of my dear old mother .   I have hesitated to refer to it in my letters home for fear of causing her more worries..... I get all the news from Ame and Jean & I've been sorely tempted to try to get leave and bolt home but I know that when I left again it would kill mother.   I can only hope and pray that she will now steadily improve. I know that Ame has almost convinced her that I am bullet proof.   I half believe it myself after all the marvellous escapes I've had....

So sorry to hear of poor Mrs Langworth. Please give my sincere sympathy ... Am returning to Egypt in a fortnight.

Best love to all, your affectionate
