And the background in some of the streets artistic, picturesque, romantic, well yes, by Allah, the pantomime stage backgrounds are a fool to the real.
Art fails and is drab, where we had thought she over painted, poor art is ever mean when nature looks her straight in the face.
In the poorer wickeder parts of the city where streets twist and bend and ancient houses beetle over almost [indecipherable] the roadway hanging above bazars, the scenes are for an artist indeed
There all manner of Arab, in all colors gowned, sell all kind of wares, make all kinds of bargains. Donkey carts, bread sellers, nut sellers, fabric sellers, children and women fill up the place.
The background of these scenes is always so artistic the bend in a street gives half side view of buildings and beyond again rises the minerette of a mosque or perhaps a dome
