[June 12]

I am writing my holiday up in my diary on Jan 17th 1918 fancy that;  & I cannot tell you the exact time we reached certain places.  We got to Newcastle early this morning & got a lie down in the YMCA.  We caught the 1st train in the morning for Morpeth & Chevington & Broomhill about 9.30 AM.  Got to the Red Row & had a walk down to the Drift to Uncle Bills.  I saw a lot of the Old faces.  Many in tears over loosing sons in the War.  In fact I felt like crying myself when I saw them.
