the operation. One could not explain that wounds had been dressed that same morning. It was all move & bustle. They meant well but it was funny. We were bundled into a bath of ammonia & dressed in loose costumes & then put into bed. Nurses on every side.

One patient who was already in the institution stated that he had asked for a pillow & one of the Greek wardsmen brought him a bed pan etc.

Thursday 20th

It is certainly an experience this noisy jabbering of foreign tongues. Our good Greek folk could not do enough for us.
