old & ruined, remarkable for it's large & ancient looking stained glass windows, & the fact that it stands in a street & is directly joined to neighbouring houses. This connection gives it a dingy appearance & distracts from its dignity. At Harfleur Rouelles one side of the valley ends in a bluff, & the other side turns a right angles north towards Le Havre. The road at the foot of this ridge, along which we marched from Havre, is dirty & bad, & goes through dirty half town & half country quarters. Also it runs past a very large collection of big huts forming a munition factory.
