time, to postpone the stunt but any how the Aussies went over the top, their first stunt in France, they made good progress for four or five lines of trenches, but then the reverse came. The huns came up out of deep dugouts that had been passed over by our troops & fixed their machineguns up & then rattled away at the backs of our fellows, of coarse our chaps were surrounded by fire & had to try & retreat the best way possible. There were not many came through it & I think
