I had no one there to see me off but some young ladies made themselves known & helped carry a few of the many things a soldier has. We embarked on the good ship Argylshire at 8pm.
Great crowds came to say their last good-bye & many thousands of flags & banners waved & the boat being tied to shore by streamers the sight was a grand one to be sure.
We soon pulled out into the stream & dropped anchor.
Had a good dinner at 2pm. & felt the benefit of such; tea came on at 5pm then up anchor & away to the
