I was going into, for up to then I had not thought quietly enough to get a realisation. That was the preachers object no doubt, & he attained it with me when he came to the laying of hands on those on the point of departure.

The mud & the terrible shelling is becoming more of a reality in imagination every hour, but my present feelings are of determination to help the others as much by a steadfast example as lies in my power. I hope I shall be able to do it.
