That night he howled his way through the empty huts, looking for the familiar faces.
When the next draft containing most of the remainder of the 16th, left, the same thing happened, & again when my draft left he came with us to the Station. Somebody took him on the train & so, to our surprise & greater to his own, he was to be seen trotting gaily by in a fish out of water style through the streets of Southampton with us. It was his first visit to a big town & slightly dazzled him.
