Tuesday 16th Oct 1917
I am writing this in Clerke's room while he has his tea. I am on draft, packed up ready to go, paid & expecting the final move in two or three days.
Last night we had our 5th debate & reached the pinnacle of success.
We had had gradually increasing success with the others & the 4th produced an audience of such dimensions that the Quiet room was not large enough to hold it, so this was held in the main room of the Y.M.C.A.
Owing to the usual drawing on & breaking of promises (this time by a clergyman private), I had
