3/ Packed up ready to entrain. I ought to mention that we are camped near the old battlefield of Tel el Kebir, fought back in the 80's. I have picked up some very fine coloured stones upon the desert here. Arrived at Ismalia at 11.30 pm we travelled down by trucks, had to unload three trucks of baggage etc, then to march to camp a 1 ½ away through the deep sand. We had a pig of an officer named Lucas of Sydney, he rode upon a horse & did not think of ordering a stop for breath
