I then had a wash first for 3 days & got to bed.
Friday 30th March
We had a kit inspection and an inspection of rifles & equipment. Needless to say my gear had Somme mud on it so I had to clean it off.
Saturday 31st March
We had a gas helmet inspection this morning I met Fr. Burns this afternoon & had a good chin-wag to him.
Sunday 1st April
We had the usual compulsory church parade and then set about to clean the rest of the mud off our clothes & gear. I wrote a couple of letters & got to bed.
Monday 2nd April
I was given instructions in the Lewis machine gun all day so slacked all day.
Wednesday 11th March
We stood-to to move up the line at a moments notice but the call never came so we went to bed.
