God ever made, one simply dried up it was impossible to sweat – but it defies description.
Then yesterday morning at 2 oclock we crossed the canal by the pontoon bridge & rode out to this spot – "Hill 40" it is seven miles from the canal. There is a limestone road running out here also a railway which is nearly standard gage guage & there is a meagre supply of water laid on: so all things considered we are very well off. Though yest yesterday we had to wait an hour
