A specimen of the Ironstone which the French Mineralogist was of opinion would be serviceable to the manufacture of China, & might be used as emery.  There is also in the same Box the Specimen of a production from the Coal mines (80 feet deep), which place I have directed should be called New Castle, & as the limits of this country Northward have never been [indecipherable] I have caused it to be ascertained and in naming the adjoining country Northumberland, I have called the District where the Coals are produced in the greatest abundance, New Castle District.

In Capt Kents voyage to Calcutta, he has ascertained that no supply of cattle for breeding could be procured among the Islands to the Eastward of Java, & if they could in small quantities a great inconvenience & perhaps the loss of them would be occasioned by the want of fodders which could not be procured there;  after leaving Norfolk Island he ran down the SW side of New Caledonia and discovered a very fine harbour in 22º South to which he has given the name of Port St Vincent in honor
