Settlement as a place to send such characters to, as are too refracting to remain here, or whose principles have been such as to require their being sent from hence, there is much more I could say on this subject, but I shall not tire your patience in an event that is decided on.

The accounts given of Port Dalrymple as far as the Books published with Flinders's Chart goes;  does not appear to give much encouragement for expecting a very good Soil to any extent, nor do the recent Surveys speak much more favorably on that head;  But I hope Colonel Paterson will be able to send as good accounts from there, as the opinions of that place seem to be sanguine in that material point.

If Captain Kent thinks the Buffalo's situation safe at Kents Bay, it is intended that he should go on to Port Phillip & Western Port  to give his opinion also of these places, but from the concurring & different opinions given of these places I am inclined to think that much may be said on both sides.  People just returning from a long voyage often think every [indecipherable] a Party in to which error I certainly think Mr. Murray the discoverer of
